Concert series gets the blues

By Jenna Martin
Staff Writer

Concert lovers accustomed to hearing country now have a reason to get blue.

A new music series in Evans featuring the blues starts Friday as a follow-up to last year's Country Music Concert Series.

The Blues, Barbecues and Brews music series kicks off with Ship of Fools and dinner catered by Cleve Edmunds Bar-B-Que. It will be presented by Columbia County Community Events.

"We thought we would give more of a variety to our concert series for Columbia County, so we decided to implement the Blues, Barbecues and Brews concert series," said Liz Stockstill, a county community events specialist.

Reed's Brown Beret will perform April 24 with dinner provided by Shane's Rib Shack, while Electric Voodoo will play May 1 with a catered dinner from Goolsby's Bar-B-Q.

Each concert will be performed at 7 p.m. at the Columbia County Amphitheater. All performing acts are blues bands from throughout the area, Stockstill said.

Admission is free, but prices for barbecue as well as beer and wine, provided by Vineyard Wine Market, will vary, she said.

"The public should come out if they want to experience a laid-back atmosphere, enjoy great local barbecue as well as great local blues music," she said.
