Thousands of Easter eggs were scattered at Blanchard Woods Park on Saturday, but only a few half-opened plastic shells remained after hundreds of children filled their baskets.
Columbia County's 15th annual Easter Egg Scramble got off to a good start with bright sunshine and warm weather.
Volunteers and county staffers scattered about 10,000 eggs stuffed with candy and prizes throughout the park's soccer fields. There were two egg hunts: one for ages 1 to 4, and one for 5 and older.
Evans resident Debbie Clifford attended for the first time with her three sons, who range from 2 to 6 years old.
"I saw the flier and thought it looked fun," she said. "I thought we'd try it out."
As her children were gearing up for the egg hunt, her 5-year-old son, Emory, said his favorite candy was an "Easter ring pop."
Guests could take a picture with the Easter Bunny, have their faces painted, watch a magic show and snack on free food.
It was the first Easter Egg Scramble for Evans resident Lisa Halliday and her two children, who moved to the area in August.
Her 2-year-old son, Patrick, had collected about 15 plastic eggs in his basket and given a high-five to the Easter Bunny.
Patrick said his favorite Easter egg was filled with orange-colored candy.
Camryn Halliday, 6, who preferred chocolate bunnies, said her favorite part of the day was "watching my brother (getting) Easter eggs."
